Work sample Year 7 Science: Water purification

This work sample demonstrates evidence of student learning in relation to aspects of the achievement standards for Year 7 Science. The primary purpose for the work sample is to demonstrate the standard, so the focus is on what is evident in the sample not how it was created. The sample is an authentic representation of student work and may contain errors such as spelling mistakes and other inaccuracies. In this work sample students: • develop processes that separate mixtures • plan and conduct safe, reproducible investigations to test relationships and aspects of scientific models • identify possible sources of error in methods and identify unanswered questions in conclusions and claims • identify evidence to support their conclusions and construct arguments to support or dispute claims • select and use language and text features appropriately for their purpose and audience when communicating their ideas and findings
